The Mifi is a transported device that can be used on a cellular network so that up to five connections can be made via wifi to the device. It's entertaining in that there is no need to connect up your device to a Usb development it beneficial for a wide range of hardware.
Many things like internet tablets, Linux netbooks or laptops, and other gadgets have had a hard time finding a good device to connect to because of software issues or lacking the right ports. The MiFi has been the device to fix all these issues. But there are some security issues lately that are development this device seem not as spectacular as once believed.
Netbook Linux
First there was a hack that was done so that someone else could see where the MiFi was straight through Gps. This means that someone could breach security and find out where you were at all times. This flaw has since been fixed but still seems like a fairly serious type of security mistake to have been made.
Recently, another assault has made it so that one could remotely find out what the password was for the device. This would allow them entrance to the device or to even convert the password locking you out of it.
Currently, this device might be too "open" if there are so many security flaws being found. Since it is the first of it's kind it's expected that there might be some issues to work out.
Regardless, the MiFi does have the right idea. As new devices come out that need wifi but do not have a place for Usb dongles, like the iPad, something like the Mifi makes the perfect device to have some internet connectivity without problems.
